Tips for people selling an RV.

This information is specific to Lorain County and surrounding areas.

So, you have decided to sell your RV. Here are some tips to make it less frustrating and get a fair value.

Call a few local RV dealers and ask what they would pay for your RV. Chances are the quote will be lower than you are comfortable with, but you now have a rough idea of what RVs like yours are selling for. In some cases, a dealer may offer enough and save you the effort. Also, ask about consignment which can net you a higher price and save the hassles.

Where to advertise:

Local news paper classified ads. The best ones are in the Plain Dealer 216 999 4594 , the Chronicle

Telegram 440 329 7210 or 7238 and the Medina Gazette 800 633 4623. Run the smallest ad you can on every third weekend. Avoid holidays. The year, brand, model, condition, price and phone # are all that an ad needs.

On the internet. The best sites change almost daily. Use a search engine like Google to find the one or two that pop up first.

and is averaged for the entire country. Further, because of the large number of brands, many book values are based on only a few actual sales. For these reasons, yours may be worth a lot more or less. You may call us for a free evaluation. Since any price given without seeing the RV, is at best a guess, we also give free verbal evaluations on any RV brought to us. You should ask about 10% or 15% more than market value because buyers expect a discount. Nice Travel Trailers in a good campground are often worth more sold in the campground. Check with the camp ground owners to get an idea of what other RVs have sold for recently and get their permission to sell yours there.

            Guarantees

Does the RV have any warranty left? Most extended service contracts can be transferred.

Most private owners are not be willing to put a warranty on the RV. You should be willing to have all the appliances working and show the buyer how everything works.

Our service department can check over RVs and provide guarantees. Call for details and pricing.

How to get paid:

Cash, Most sellers will want cash or a bank check.

The best place to conclude your deal is at a bank The banker can make sure the

title is valid, guarantee the payment and do the notary work. Unfortunately, there are not many bankers who will do this, so call first. We offer the same service for $75.00

Finance, If the buyer arranges financing, go with them to their bank or credit union to trade the title for a check. We can help you get bank financing for your buyer. Our rates are often less since we send millions of dollars of financing to area banks and credit unions

Precautions. Be sure the buyer is a real person with a real address. Get his address and phone number, check out both on the internet. Be sure you are getting a valid payment. Lately, there have been a lot of scams involving phony bank checks. Be very skeptical about any offers coming over e-mail. There have been a lot of “Nigerian Scams”
