Camping in Sandusky, OH: RVs and Roller Coasters


If there’s one thing that people know about Ohio it’s that we’ve got two of the best amusement parks in the country: King’s Island and Cedar Point. In today’s blog post we’re going to talk about camping in Sandusky, Ohio, home of Cedar Point.

Since RVers are by nature adventurous people, RVing near an amusement park, where you can get your adrenaline fix, is sure to end up being one of your favorite camping experiences. RVing at Cedar Point is a great way for parents, grandparents, and children to bond together. It literally bridges the gap between generations.

Cedar Point has its own camp ground that allows you to enjoy staying in your own RV or renting a cabin or cottage.

Lighthouse Point at Cedar Point features an RV campground with full hook-up sites. RV sites are available just steps away from the park and Soak City. Pets are allowed, however, they must be licensed and leashed at all times.

Private Cottages at Lighthouse Point are one story and sleep up to 6 people. Lakeside cottages boast a lovely deck, deck chair, and grill. They come with complimentary wi-fi, air conditioning, and basic small appliances like coffee makers. Sleeping options include a double bed and bunk bed in the bedroom and a futon/sofa in the living or a double bed and bunk bed in the bedroom and a futon/sofa in the living area.

If you’ve got a larger group of people to accommodate the Standard Cabins might be more what you need. They can sleep up to 8 people, although bedding is provided for 6 people. They offer a double bed in the bedroom and two futon/sofas in the living area and can also sleep 2 people in the loft. These cabins are located on a small inland pond.

Aside from being located a hop, skim, and a jump from Cedar Point you also get perks for staying at Lighthouse Point. This includes discounted ticket prices 1 Day Cedar Point $39, 2 Day Cedar Point $75,1 Day Ride & Slide $55, 2 Day Ride & Slide $75, 3 Day Ride & Slide $95, Starlight $25, and Early Entry. You get to enter the park 1 hour earlier than other guests and ride select rides. Early Entry rides available in 2014 are: GateKeeper, Ocean Motion, Midway Carousel, Raptor, Millennium Force, Iron Dragon, Maverick, Planet Snoopy, Pipe Scream and Lake Erie Eagles.
