Buckeye Lake State Park
Aptly named for the state’s nickname inspired by the Ohio state tree, Buckeye Lake State Park is actually the oldest state park in Ohio. If you’re a fan of water sports, this is the place for you! It offers swimming, skiing, boating and fishing. The lake was actually built as a canal feeder in 1826 and attracts many waterfowl, making it a great spot for birdwatching during the spring and fall migrations.
Caesar Creek State Park
This state park offers beautiful blue water to swim in, steep ravines, and incredible meadows. All 3,741-acres of the park make for some of the best hiking, fishing, and fun in Ohio. Popular activities include archery, boating on the 2,830-acre lake, and ice fishing and cross country skiing in the winter.
Findley State Park
Findley State Park is a 838-acre park nestled in the secluded wilderness of Wellington, Ohio. It is a wonderful space that offers boating with electric motors only, along with kayaking and canoeing. You’ll also enjoy fishing for largemouth bass, crappie, and bluegill. And if you love to swim you’ll enjoy the 435 foot beach that offers a concession stand.
Dillon State Park
Located in Nashport, Ohio, Dillon State Park is tucked deep in the quiet Ohio hill country. This 2,285-acre park offers fishing for the common largemouth bass and the less common muskie. In addition to a range of outdoors activities, this park offers a superb picnicking area that includes 900 parking spots, grills, picnic tables, and covered areas.
