I am the first to tell anyone getting ready to set out on their RV trip that if you want to meet locals and get a true taste of the regional cuisine, then dining in locally-owned, small restaurants is the best way to go. But even I can’t deny that sometimes a quick order in a fast-food restaurant is just what an RV full of hungry travelers needs.

Waffle House
Back in 1955, two neighbors set out to make a 24-hour restaurant in Avondale Estates, GA. Today, over 60 years later, Waffle House’s iconic yellow sign dots highways across the country. The original Waffle House location is no longer a restaurant–but it is a museum filled with Waffle House memorabilia from the past 60 years.

While the original building has been replaced with run-of-the-mill building, head inside to find some fun KFC artifacts, like the Colonel’s tux and original menus. Still a working restaurant, this KFC still serves their famous chicken and mashed potatoes buffet-style.
