Mmm, S’mores. The decadently gooey, deliciously crunchy campfire essential that is guaranteed to make everyone smile. S’mores are the perfect camping treat but sometimes it’s fun to switch it up a little and discover new campfire sweets. Try out some of these recipes on your next RV trip and see how many become your new go-to campfire dessert.
Campfire Banana Splits
These are always a hit with the kids. Split the banana, fill with your favorite toppings, then wrap with foil and roast over the campfire. When they’re done, grab and spoon and dig into the melted banana and toppings.
Dessert in a Can
This one will take some prep work on your part. You’ll have to find tin cans without coating that are able to be heated over a fire then make sure there are no sharp edges. And of course, the cans will be HOT when they’re done so be sure to wrap them well to protect little hands. But once you’re past the prep work and ready to fill the cans, kids will love trying out new mixes and creating their own campfire dessert mashups with this treat.
Fudge Striped S’mores
I love this s’mores trick. Switch out graham crackers and chocolate for packaged cookies and roast them as you normally would. It’s the perfect way to get that melted chocolate texture while still getting the enjoyment of roasting s’mores. Get adventurous and have some fun trying out different s’mores alternatives, like adding peanut butter or fruit. I’ve even seen munchkin donuts replace the traditional graham cracker.
