Ingredients

5 Eggs

8 Asparagus Spears

2 Leeks

8 oz Mushrooms

1 9″ Pie Crust

1/2 tsp Nutmeg

4 tsp Butter

1 1/2 cups Grated Gruyere Cheese

1/2 cup Whole Milk

1/2 cup Half and Half

Salt and pepper to taste.

Instructions

• Preheat oven to 450.
• Line your 9″ pan with the pastry dough and prick the base with a fork. Place parchment paper over the pastry and fill with 1lb dry beans or weighs.  Bake for 8-9 minutes or until dough is just beginning to set.
• Lower the oven temperature to 350.
• Remove the bottom 1″ of the asparagus, since it is usually tough, and slice the tops off at around 2-3″. Chop the middle portion into bite-sized pieces.
• Bring a pot of water to a boil, add a pinch of salt, and then blanch the asparagus for 1-2 minutes.  Remove from the boiling water and set aside.
• Slice the mushrooms into slivers and chop the leeks.
• Saute the mushrooms and leeks in 2 tbsp of butter and a pinch of salt. Use a medium-high heat and cook until the mushrooms have a lovely golden brown color and the leeks are beginning to brown.  Approx. 5 minutes.
• Add the asparagus and cheese to the pan, stirring to combine.
• In a bowl, whisk together eggs, half and half, milk, salt, pepper, and nutmeg.  Whisk until eggs are frothy and the ingredients are totally combined.
• Add the vegetables to the eggs and mix to combine.
• Pour the mixture into the pastry shell — be sure to remove the parchment paper and dried beans/weighs before adding your filling!
• Cover the pan with tin foil and bake for 45 minutes.  Remove the foil and bake for another 20 minutes.  Top with additional cheese, and brown for 5 minutes.
• Let the quiche stand for ten minutes after removing from the heat and serve!

Use a Proper Hose 

When purchasing your fresh water hose, be sure to hose that is qualified for use for drinking water.  A regular garden hose is not safe to drink water from, so you will need to purchase a specialized hose like the AquaFresh hoses for sale in our catalog. These offer up to 160 PSI!

Color Coding

You want to be sure you’ll avoid ever mixing up the black or grey water hoses with your fresh water hose.  That’s why color-coding your hoses is essential.  Choose a white hose for the fresh water, black for your black water tank, and any other color for grey water.

Clean Before Hooking Up 

A great tip from a veteran RVers that will give you peace of mind about your fresh water: clean the spigot before hooking up your hose. You never know if the camper before you may have used the wrong hose or hooked up their black water tank to the fresh water spigot for a rinse.  The safest bet is to clean the head with bleach spray and then turn on the water and let it run until the bleach smell is gone. This will also clean the line of any old water that has been sitting there since the last camper left.

Sanitize Your System

Regularly sanitizing your system is essential to your clean water supply.  You can look up tutorials on how to properly clean your system, or contact your dealer and schedule regular maintenance on your RV’s water system.

Prep

1. Pre-heat your oven to 400 degrees.

2. Line the sheet pan with parchment paper for easy clean up.

3. You’ll want to break your graham crackers in half so that one original cracker will make a perfect, square s’more.

4. Cut marshmallows in half.

5. Break chocolate bar into two-piece sections.

Instructions

Line the bottom of your sheet pan with the graham crackers.  Place a piece of chocolate — or candy of your choice — in the center of each cracker.  Put two halves of the marshmallows on top of the candy and top with the second graham cracker.

Bake in the oven for 5 minutes at 400 degrees.

Many of our customers like to schedule maintenance and other services on their RV while it’s stored with us.  We offer washes, wash and waxing, detailing, safety inspections and more!  We even offer a “Run Motorhome Monthly” option which includes turning on the motorhome monthly and moving it enough to ensure the engine is working properly.  We will contact you if anything troublesome arises with your RV while it is in our care.

The ease of travel is one of the major benefits to advances in technology, especially with GPS navigation.  Google Maps is an excellent form of navigation that will get you where you’re going with ease!  Keep in mind, all smartphone apps are dependent on a strong cell signal, so if you’re in a place with low reception it’s a good idea to have printed directions or a paper map, just in case.

My name is Kate, I’m 26, and I’ve been camping since I learned to walk.  My family loves all kinds of camping from staying in luxurious campers like the RVs for sale at Moore’s RV dealer, to roughing it with a tent and sleeping bags.  One of the most stressful things about camping is making sure everyone is fed.  If you’re like me, you have a picky eater — or two — in the family.  Here’s what I’ve learned over the years about cooking while at the campground and two easy camping recipes that everyone will love.

Recipe 1: Roasted Chicken and Veggies

(Picky eater suggestions in parenthesis)

Ingredients:

• Chicken thighs – approximately 4-6 oz. per person should be plenty
• Whole Baby Carrots (can swap for corn on the cob or canned corn)
• Green Beans (cubed sweet potatoes, broccoli, or quartered red potatoes are good, too)
• Pearl Onions (exclude or swap for onion powder to get the flavor in there)
• Garlic
• Olive Oil

Instructions:

Do steps 1-7 before you even leave the house.  It will be SO much easier in the long run

1. Boil the chicken until just done and slice into strips.
2. Chop your veggies into bite-sized pieces
3. Make aluminum foil bowls and layer in the veggies (you can customize each packet for the individual, if you want).  You’ll want potatoes and carrots near the bottom with onions and green beans near the top.
4. Drizzle olive oil, add garlic, salt, and pepper to taste and toss lightly.
5. Layer chicken in on top.
6. Wrap up the foil bowl to cover everything and add two layers of heavy duty aluminum foil on the outside.  Label the top, so everyone knows whose is whose.
7. Store in the cooler or refrigerator until ready to cook.
8. To cook: Heat in the oven at 375, or directly over the campfire for approximately 45 minutes, or until the potatoes are soft.
9. Enjoy!

Recipe 2: Beef and Potatoes

I have yet to meet a picky eater who doesn’t like this option.

Ingredients:

• Ground beef – 4-6 oz. per person
• Russet potatoes
• Cheddar cheese
• Salt and pepper
• Sour cream
• Garlic powder
• Worcestershire sauce

Instructions:

Do steps 1-6 before you even leave the house.

1. Brown the ground beef lightly and season with Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
2. Piece the potatoes and cook individually in the microwave for 6 minutes, flip them over and repeat for 3 minutes.
3. Let the potatoes cool and then cube them or mash them, depending on what you like, and season with salt and pepper.
4. Make aluminum foil bowls and add in the potatoes and meat.
5. Wrap up the foil bowl to cover everything and add two layers of heavy duty aluminum foil on the outside.  Label the top, so everyone knows whose is whose.
6. Store in the cooler or refrigerator until ready to cook.
7. To cook: Place in the oven at 350, or over the fire, for 30-45 minutes, stirring the potatoes and meat occasionally.
8. Open the packets carefully and sprinkle the cheddar cheese over everything.  Close the packets and cook another 3-5 minutes, until the cheese melts.
9. Top with a dollop of sour cream and enjoy!

Often one of the best steps you can take to making your vacation easier is just doing a little research before you’re out the door.  Most RV campgrounds have a website that will allow you to make sure it has all the amenities you need.  It’s a good idea to check out a map of the grounds so that if you’re arriving after dark, you’re less likely to get lost on the way to your site.

Don’t Forget the Paper Maps

Furry Friends

Traveling with pets can be a major headache without proper preparation.  Whenever you’re on the road, keep the pet in the cab with you.  It is never safe to leave them in the RV while you’re on the road.  Small pets should travel in a carrier in the cab, they’ll feel safer being in a small space, and you won’t risk them distracting you on the road.  For larger pets, there are a wide variety of car-safe harnesses you can use to keep them strapped in, but comfortable on the road.
